Open PornstarByFacePornstarByFace Review
https://pornstarbyface.com/Face recognition for identifying performers, with an explicit promise not to store uploads — and an engine that was down when we tried it.
- It states plainly that uploaded photographs are not stored
- The matching process is explained step by step rather than presented as magic
- A community request route for cases the model cannot resolve
The premise deserves care, and to its credit the page gives some. What the tool does is explained step by step, from face detection through pattern matching, the limitations are spelled out — one person per photograph, full face, quality affects accuracy — and one sentence states outright that uploaded photographs are not stored. For a service that asks strangers to upload a picture of someone, that sentence is the most important thing on the page.
The trouble is that it did not work. The recognition service returned a message saying the interface was unavailable and apologising, so the core function could not be tested at all. The tool is described as an open beta, and no accuracy figure is published anywhere, so even when it runs there is nothing to calibrate a result against.
A pop-under fires and an advertising network loads on a page whose whole purpose is handling an uploaded photograph of a person, which sits badly beside the privacy promise above it. Good instincts, stated honestly, attached to something that is not currently working.
