Vintage and classic porn: archives from the stag-film era to the VHS years

Some of the best-kept archives on MyPornFox are of things made long before the internet existed. Magazines, silent loops, golden-age features and retro studio work survive here because publishers, collectors and volunteers decided they were worth preserving properly, with titles, dates and credits intact. This is my guilty-pleasure shelf, 13 sites deep, and it is best read by era.

By era

• 1910s to the stag-film years: Retro Porn Archive arranges its collection decade by decade, starting in the 1910s, publishes its holdings exactly (426 films, 12,760 photographs, 90 hours of footage) and opens each decade with an introduction. Its own front page, sadly, no longer renders in a modern browser. Vintage 8mm Porn files stag films and loops by their original publisher, from Parliament and Pendulum to Marquis, though it has no search and no legal pages.
• Print, 1953 to 2020: the Playboy Archive is the publisher's own, every issue page by page, officially licensed and with a full set of legal pages; it is a subscription and a magazine, not video. Classic Erotica lets you download whole vintage magazines as PDFs, sorted into six language sections, free and without a login.
• Features and studio reissues: Film1k indexes full-length erotic films by decade, country and spoken language, with proper titles and release years. Score Classics brings back SCORE's own material from the 80s, 90s and 2000s, with photosets kept whole. The Classic Porn files its retro clips by country of origin, French, Italian, German and American.

Who is that?

Old scans and loops rarely come with a cast list, and that is where Vintage Erotica Forums comes in. More than 400,000 members work on identification together through Model ID Request threads and a Mystery Corner, and the forum has grown to 38,671 threads on models and 191,967 on films, plus scanning tutorials for contributors. The menu leads with live girls and hookup ads, which is a shame, but the volunteer work underneath is on a scale no commercial archive matches.

A note on picture quality

Expect grain, faded colour and the occasional scratch; that is the material, not a fault in the site. What to look for instead is care: a real title and year on every entry, sets kept together, and a publisher or archive that names its source.
