Pornstar & Model Sites (15)

Pornstar databases: a name, a filmography and credits you can trust

It usually starts with a scene and no name. The 15 sites in this category are where you go next: databases, wikis and performer indexes that turn a face into a filmography. All of them are free to use, and the best are kept by people who care whether a credit is correct.

Which one answers which question?

• What else have they been in? IAFD lists 862,387 titles and 230,160 performers, kept by named volunteer editors, with a corrections link on every page. Its coverage leans American.
• Is that film any good? Adult DVD Talk holds 46,232 reviews by 1,038 named reviewers in a community active since 1999, where performers and directors take part as verified members.
• Who is this performer, in my language? FreeOnes has run since 1998 with seven interface languages, and it indexes male and trans performers alongside women rather than as an afterthought.
• Which studio shot it? Adult Film Database prints the producing studio on every title and indexes directors separately, and dbNaked does the same job for 74,148 photo sets.

Wikis and quick indexes

Boobpedia has been a wiki since 2007 and behaves like one, with 48,097 entries, editing rules anyone can read, and indexes by magazine, website and profession. As with any wiki, some entries are thorough and many are a line and a photograph. TubePornstars is the minimal option: one long list of performers, each name followed by how many videos it has, with the men flagged by their own symbol, but no dates, no totals and no word on where the videos come from.

How I rank a database

Size matters less than you would think. What moves a site up this list is whether it states its holdings exactly instead of rounding them into a boast, whether named people maintain it rather than a scraper, and whether it shows where its material comes from. IAFD and Adult DVD Talk are strongest on the first two; Adult Film Database and dbNaked, which name the producing studio on every entry, on the third.

Why corrections matter

Adult credits are messier than most. Performers change names, studios reissue scenes under new titles, and scraped sites copy each other's mistakes for years. That is why the sites at the top of this list are the ones with a visible way to fix an error. If you spot a wrong credit on IAFD, use the corrections link; the next person searching for that scene will benefit without ever knowing your name.
